About
Having started to take pictures with a simple 6x6cm roll film camera as a child I was then using my trusty analog SLR Minolta X-500 for almost 30 years mainly for travel and family memories before making the step to digital and into the Canon SLR system. In slightly over 10 years this has already seen the third body. Fortunately lenses are more stable and additive. Quite a few courses and trips, online and hands-on, have improved skills and picture quality since.
Due to my personal focus, this website currently has more a focus on travel than on photography (the slideshow under Photos remains), however. My mother is telling a story that my first word was not the usual Mama but rather ada-ada, which I did call until she went outside with me. Travelling has always been a favourite of mine and preferably away from trotted paths or the tourism industry. This way I am a guest respecting local traditions and views and living somehow similarly to the locals. With just the flight tickets and visa prearranged I was travelling alone in China for 4 weeks or in Vietnam for 2 weeks or with friends in Myanmar (Burma). Despite of my not negligible mass I now do follow the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and no longer have to accept a predetermined time together with a location, which allows for a new dimension in travelling.
